Teddington Festival 2007 - 2008

Sunday 30th March

A Message from Teddington RFC's Minis Chairman

All of us at Teddington RFC would to extend a warm welcome to all the players taking part in this season's festival. This is the 4th year we have hosted our own festival and we thank all the past participants for the excellent spirit in which they have taken part. This festival is specifically aimed at development players in your clubs with the goal of offering these players a quality festival played at the appropriate standard.

Like a number of clubs, our membership numbers are on the high side. For the As and Bs it easy to is easy to arrange a packed season of festivals and fixtures. However for developing players it has always been a challenge to find games that match their ability level. At the end of the day, we want to encourage all youngsters to enjoy the game and play their best, but confidence and spirit can be easily dented when games are mismatched.

Four years ago Tim Murphy came up with the idea of creating a festival especially for these players. We invited the clubs that we knew would enter into the spirit of this event and with the support and help of Imber Court held our very first festival. We had to start from a blank piece of paper and had no idea of the amount of effort required to put on an event such as this. We were fortunate that our good friends at Cobham were able to share their Festival Blueprint with us and so the plot soon unfolded. Of course the success of any festival rests on a number of key factors, the most important of all being an army of volunteers! Fortunately at Teddington we have an enthusiastic bunch of parents who can "easily" be persuaded to get involved.

This season's festival, which is being organised by Mike Clarke. Mike has pulled together a great team of helpers to really get the show on the road.

I must also thank all of the businesses that have sponsored the Teddington Youth Rugby this season. In particular, I would like to thank our sponsors L’Auberge/The Kings Head and MKG3000.

We very much look forward to seeing you all on the day.
